Malls for Moms

On Friday night we had our July book club meeting. We met at the Alderwood Mall, where we were each able to select our own dinners. It was a fun night to just hang out together and talk about the book.

Those in attendance were me, Michelle Norlie, and JoLyn Thompson.

August Book

For August we will be reading a true classic, "To Kill a Mockingbird," by Harper Lee. I read this book in high school, but I'm not sure if I really appreciated it at the time. I have since then read it several times, as an adult, and am truly touched everytime I do. It is very thought-provoking, bringing up the issue of race in the South during the Great Depression....

"A gripping, heart-wrenching, and wholly remarkable tale of coming-of-age in a South poisoned by virulent prejudice, it views a world of great beauty and savage inequities through the eyes of a young girl, as her father—a crusading local lawyer—risks everything to defend a black man unjustly accused of a terrible crime."

July's Meeting (in August -- Yeah, yeah, I know!)

Date: Friday, August 7th at 7:00 pm
Book: "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies," by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith
Host: Me, Myself, and I
Location: Alderwood Mall Food Court

Scheduling in July was turning into a nightmare, therefore we will be meeting on August 7th. I hope everyone is enjoying this book! I sure did! I can't wait to hear what all of you have to say about it!
