Twilight Movie

As a nod to one of our most popular reads for our club, we will be going to the new feature presentation of "Twilight" the movie on opening night, Friday, November 21st. All are invited to join in. The showtime we will be going to is at 7:40 pm at the Everett Mall Theaters.

For those interested in just hanging out with the girls and not attending the movie, we will be doing some activities both before and after the movie as well. We will meet at the Everett Mall Food Court at 6:00 pm to select whatever treats our little hearts desire. Following the movie, we will meet at Applebee's at around 10:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend any or all activities! Hope to see everyone there!!

November Book

Heidi Barker will be hosting for November. The book she has chosen to read will be "The Goose Girl" by Shannon Hale. Since the end of the year gets hectic and crazy for everyone, we will be using this book for December as well, so you all should have time to read it!! Our meeting will probably be in the middle of December sometime. We will keep you posted! Happy Reading!

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

On Thursday, October 30th we met at Sarah's house to discuss "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" by Betty Smith. Many of us had a difficult time getting through the whole thing in time, but I think most agreed it was worth it! We had a really great turn-out. Those in attendance were Sarah Williams, Frances Collinwood, Jolyn Thompson, Heidi Barker, Susie Larson, Carrie Howell, Anne Bodily, Audrey Sisco, Julie Johnson, and myself. Thanks to everyone who came!

October Book

Sarah Williams will be hosting Book Club for October. She has chosen [with a little help :)] to read "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" by Betty Smith. And yes, that really is the author's name. It is definitely a classic and should be readily available at the library.

An Austen Addiction

We had a great time at Carrie's house on Tuesday night discussing "Austenland." We enjoyed a rousing discussion of the book and Jane Austen's characters, while nibbling delicately on wraps and chocolate chip cookies. Those who attended were myself, Carrie, Jolyn, Lauren, Audrey, Laura, Anne, Sarah, Susie, and a new member of our Ward -- Robynn Stolte. The defining question of the night was, "Which is better, a fantasy world which you create (such as romance in Austen's world), or reality? Would you grow tired of your fantasy?" Discuss amongst yourselves!

September Book

One of our newest members to the group, Carrie Howell, will be hosting for September. The book she has chosen is "Austenland" by Shannon Hale, another LDS author. I believe there are a few copies among our group that people can borrow if need be, just let me know. Happy Reading, ladies!

Twilight Tea

We had such a great time at our Twilight Tea Party last night! Thanks to everyone who came! We had a really great turn-out, probably the biggest ever! There were even a few who dressed up, vampire-style, for the occassion! The evening started out with treats the colors of red, black, and white. Everyone was very brave and tried out my first attempt at a Red Velvet cake. We also had homemade Oreos and chocolate covered strawberries. After the refreshments we played a couple of games. The Twilight Trivia was a great success, with Carrie and Beth tying for first place, showing off their extensive Twilight knowledge and being true "Vampy Vampires!" We also designed and modeled Bella's wedding dress made out of toilet paper. Those in attendance were Laura Schilaty, Lauren Hammond, Susie Larson, Audrey Sisco, Anne Bodily, Carrie Howell, Frances Collinwood and her sister Beth, Sarah Williams, Heidi Barker, and myself. Thanks for making it a great night, ladies!!

August Book

Since most of us have been eagerly anticipating the newest and last addition to Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" series, we will be reading her "Breaking Dawn" for August. I have preordered the book (due out on August 2nd), and I believe some of you have as well, so we will try to pass our copies around as quickly as possible. The library wait list is about a mile long so I think we will have to rely on our friends to all read it this month. Please let everyone know when you are done with your copies so we can share. I can't wait!

A Taste of Thai

Thanks to everyone who came to Book Club on Saturday! We had a great time eating and chatting....my favorite combination! Our numbers were small, due to the summer travelling, but small can be fun as well. Those in attendance were myself, Jolyn, Audrey, and Michelle. For those of you who couldn't come, I still recommend reading the book. It was a fascinating look at two characters you will probably never come across in your lifetime....conjoined twins. (I also highly recommend the mango bubble tea smoothie. Yumm!!)
